9 places to find ethical and sustainable Christmas decorations
As millions of trees are about to go up all across the UK this coming weekend with branches begging to be decorated I thought i’d write a list of places to find sustainable decorating options.
Also remember that although all these brands I’ve listed are great- still the most sustainable option of all is using the decorations you already have…i know you didn’t want to hear it!
enjoy! and let me know of any other brands you know of!
I have to say that Nkuku is probably top of my list for magical interiors and Christmas decorations. Their original business plan was jotted down on the back of a paperback on a beach, and the name Nkuku was borrowed from a village they passed through in Zambia. They uphold three core values: Ethical, Eco-Friendly and Handmade.

traidcraft
Traidcraft is the original fair trade pioneer in the UK - they advocate the importance of organic farming, sustainability and transparency to the lives of growers and artisans around the world. A great company to get behind selling everything from clothing to chocolate.
ethical superstore
I like to think of Ethical Superstore as an ethical Amazon. No, they won’t deliver as fast and neither is there millions of options but what they do have is carefully sourced. They have some great Christmas decorations available.
ebay
Ebay acts like another alternative to Amazon for me and I love the thought of buying Christmas decorations that have been hung on multiple trees before me! Ebay was definitely not short of options when I took a look so shop away- saving the environment and your cash in the process! This is also a great place to look for fairy lights and the decorations you do want to buy but may not be sustainable. For example, if you can’t get enough of tinsel and plastic trees- look no further!
radical giving
Another beautiful selection of decorations that float the boat for me. Radical Giving is a wellbeing and lifestyle store stocking zero waste and ethical gifts sourced from charities and social enterprises in the UK and Worldwide- they have lots of other beautiful items too which would make great Christmas gifts!
&keep
Etsy is an online marketplace where crafters create and then buyers buy! Etsy has a special place in my heart as I used to sell products on there and so I knew how much it meant when someone chose to shop on that platform instead of with a shop they already knew, or one of the high street giants! You’re guaranteed to find what you need and if not something better than you had imagined from very clever crafters.

artisan homewares
Ethical homewares is an independent ethical homeware business based in Bristol, UK sourcing handcrafted ceramics and textiles from around the world. They have a really unique Christmas offering with Kashmiri, paper and ceramic decorations.
Your craft drawer
We all know you’ve got it in you, even if you don’t think you have. There are so many beautiful decorations to be created from things you may already have around your home. Pinterest, Instagram and youtube tutorials are now making it easier than ever too. Why not give it a try this year!
