Our journey to an ethical, conscious and wholesome home.
Entering into the world of motherhood over six years ago was the catalyst of a wake-up call that forever changed the clothing, food and items that were entering our home. Who had made them? What had it cost them? What could it mean for our health?
Three babies later, I’m working out how to live well with the world we have been gifted. Sustainability for me isn’t just the reusable coffee cup (trust me, I forget it more than I remember it). For me, it’s a life-giving home full of choices that are thought through, researched and trusted.
It’s my joy to research. To learn that a cut-up onion in the corner of a room quenches the coughs of little ones in the night, why organic clothing matters especially when it comes to underwear, and how meal planning EVERYTHING means we can buy better. So, the hope is that what I’m talking about lightens the load for you: ethical choices made easier.
This is just my journey, journeys aren’t linear and they are different for everyone (we’ve tried the homemade toothpaste and with a resounding gag and a no, settled on shop-bought).
From home education to sore nipples and companies who do it right, welcome to the journey.

7 days of slow: a view of our non-toxic home
Hello! For a while now I’ve been asked by friends and followers questions about what products we use in our home; what we use for laundry, what I use to wash my hair, and what products I use on Hephzibah (amongst others).
I have wanted to get something down in writing for months now because I’ve read too many books and articles and seen too many documentaries to believe that living a toxic-free life and having a home that is chemical free is just a fad; only for the crunchiest of mama’s out there, or for those who have got the money to pay for the ‘fancy’ products. I truly believe for our health, our families and for our environment we don’t have a choice but to live one. So, the next 7 days is a snapshot into our home, a glimpse to the products we use, and the products we make.
Stay in the Know
I recently met up with someone who was thinking of pulling her children out of school to home-educate. We met so she could ask questions and find out a little bit more. Right near the beginning, she said ‘I just want to ask, what do you actually do in your days?’ It was one of the first questions I had too. What do homeschoolers do all day?! The more people I meet, the more I realise there is a general assumption i’m stood infront of a blackboard, a group of berol pens strewn across the table, or a picture-perfect scene, regurgitating information I learnt online last night in one of my planned sessions whilst wearing a floor length plaid dress. This is so far from what homeschool looks like for us. But what do we do? Here’s a little insight into a random Thursday.
